Perimeter Shock Sensor

Hey all. I'm looking into the perimeter shock sensor on my 08 STi....

Does anyone have this? here is a link.

I called the dealership and they told me it's $85 to activate it with the Subaru Select Monitor.

Is there anyway to activate it without going to the dealership? I think it's rediculous to charge that much to activate this, just the same as $85 for new tpms.....

thoughts or comments?

 
I thought you just plug it in? What is Subaru Select Monitor? Is that like a cheaper version of On Star? If so I would be paying them to take it out, I don't want big brother watching what I do and where I go.

 
I have it in my car. But I have no idea what its even for. All I know its in there and I can control it through the head unit.

I had it on my 02 Rex. My friends were awesome and liked to kick my tires and set off my alarm. It was under the center console. If I remember right, it had a dial on it to turn up or down the sensitivity.
