PnP'd intake manifold ?

Basically, do you guys think it's worth spending the extra money to have an intake manifold PnP'd? Or would it be wiser to spend the money elsewhere, like on a new turbo inlet instead? Either way, I want your opinion on the benefits of a PnP'd intake manifold, and if it's worth it...

I would think you wouldnt notice a diffrence till you started getting into other higher modes. If you had a huge turbo with a built motor you would notice a diffrence but with a small to mid size turbo pushins lower boost I would say its not worth it.

I talked to a shop about bump sticks for my car. They said on the boxer engine it is not worth it till you up grade your turbo and with a built motor. that's when you start pushing crazy boost to warrent the extra flow.

I seem to recall some talk about how PnP is a better bang for the buck than aftermarket headers. I'll try to locate where I read that. But I don't think it is a real great increase in power but it does help the stock turbo spool lower and faster.

^^ Im pretty sure hes talking about "intake" manifold. Although I agree with you. PnP exhaust mainfolds is a great idea.

I would just ask grimmspeed. This is one of the last performance mods ive been wanting to do since ive opened everything else up.

oops. I did read that wrong.

Besides the intake side of the turbo, what is there to PnP on the intake? And if you do that, you are probably going to be getting the exhaust side done at the same time. That defintily can net some gains, if matched with a DP. I would say the intake needs to be matched with an aftermarket intake hose as well.

And at that point, and all that money spent, wouldn't it have been a better idea to just upgrade the turbo to the biggest one you can afford?

Of coarse, for AX, headers and intake hose keeps you in STS (STX for the WRX) and the PnP moves you to Street Prepaired (ESP) and an upgraded turbo means Street Modified (SM). But I realize most people don't care about this.

Come to SM where you can stomp on the mustang at every event.

I just realized that if I swap hood scoops with MikeyMeyagi for his carbon sti hood scoop that's where I would be.

I don't want to spend the scratch for r-comps yet...

I think I've decided not go with it for now... Reason I considered it was I am getting a set of PnP'd TGV deletes, so I figured hey why not get the intake manifold PnP'd too since I've gotta take it off anyway, but I think I'll use the money for a turbo inlet and phenolic spacers instead.

if you go to grimspeed's site they talk about what PnP the intake manifold actually does. They even have a system where you pay a core deposit and they send you out a manifold that is all set to go so that you don't have any down time. I just got another STi intake manifold to do this too along with the TGV deletes and spacers. I've talked to a few ppl that have done this and they said that for the couple bux you spend it is def worth it. this is one of the many winter projects ahead!

Like I said earlier. Only way you are going to notice any crazy gain from it is if you are already max the flow rate on your system as it is.

Sure you might see a couple of horses but that isn't worth it in my OP for the work, time, and money involved.

If I ever go with my forged pistons and connecting rods and some new bumpsticks, with a bigger turbo than I have now. I would think about PnP the intake side, but not till then.
