Power Windows and Locks are Dead

The other day I went to turn on my '05 STI and it stalled, this has never happened before. I let it sit for a few mins and tried again. It took a while but finally turned over. I then tried putting the windows down to let in some air and boom they wouldn't go down. I tried the locks they too would respond. I tried the passenger side with the same results. My viper security button doesn't lock/unlock either.

I checked all the fuses in the car and under the hood. Everything looks fine. I then started tearing apart the dash/stereo to see what the previous owner has done for wiring. It all looks fine...

My next step would be to bring it to the dealer and ask them WTF happened unless someone out there has any suggestions?...

did the 05 sti not come with security standard? i know of 3 people who have all had issues with after market alarms. older AND newer cars...

crusty alarm ground or loose wire...

The STI comes with the stock locking system the WRX and all modern Subies come with but mine came with a Viper security system which I hate cause the keychain is a big ugly cell phone looking device and sucks up a AAA battery every month and isn't compliant with the iPhone Viper App. I wouldn't put it past the previous owner if they did a faulty wiring job. They ripped out the nice 6 disc CD changer and installed a nasty Alpine system but it does have an iPod hookup.

However...

Would a faulty security wiring job also short out the windows?...

Doesn't matter now, I guess, since I've already dropped the machine off at the dealers today.

effin aftermarket alarums! of course the alarm would disable the windows and locks, it's designed to keep low lifes (and the actual car owner who has keys etc) from stealing, I mean operating the vehicle.

my 00 RS came to me with an aftermarket alarm, heh If I try to unlock the car with the real key it sets off the alarm and totally diables the electronic systems (windows, ignition, door lox etc etc) ! have to shut sheet off with the remote first, god help me if that gets pooched.

sounds like you or an experienced alarm installer/troubleshooter has some investigative work to do
