HATER DAN
I've noticed an influx of this lately and I've nearly blown a forehead artery and hosed my keyboard down in blood because of it.
Today's lesson kiddies is TO vs TOO vs TWO.
First of all, these words are Homonyms. That means while they are very different, they sound exactly the same!
Lets start off with this little guy:
To
To has two functions. First, as a preposition, in which case it always precedes a noun.
I'm going to Evergreen Subaru.
He went to New England Forest Rally.
This car belongs to Nailman.
Secondly, to indicates an infinitive when it precedes a verb.
I need to flog my RS,
We want to get our cars dirty.
He's going to race his car a track day.
Now lets go over it's twin brother:
Too
Too also has two uses. First, as a synonym for "also":
Can I go too?
He went to Wicked Big Meet too.
I think that's WRXNate's oversexed vaguely Korean sedan too.
Secondly, too means excessively when it precedes an adjective or adverb.
I'm too tired after a day of racing.
He drove too quickly.
I drank too much beer.
Two
Two is a number.
One, two, three...
I saw two Impreza's today.
She put two Hella 500's on her car.
Feel free to practice your Homonyms and make Subaru references in this thread!
