I want to pick up some wax, but I don't know what to do. Is wax all I need? Walk me through armoring the car from road salt please

. I'll also be picking up some rain-X to do my windshield (and probably rear window just because).

Waxing is good, just buy some Turtle Wax and follow the instructions. The biggest things you can do to protect against road salt is just wash your car about one or twice a week.(I have a hard time doing this, I love to see my car durty

) That way the salt doesn't have time to eat anything. And what Mr. Mainiac said.

The rubber that is on the lip of the wheel wells always does a fantastic job at trapping water and mud there and rotting out the quarters....

undercoat the living crap out of the underneath (too late this year), anything rusty, sand off the rust, paint. wash it after every storm, and make sure to get underneath. or be ghetto like the father-in-law and paint the underside of your car with used motor oil

I always oil the underside of my cars, especially the older ones. And crack, crevice, seam, or hole, put a little used oil, or NAPA chain and cable lube right in those spots! The chain and Cable lube works great, it spreads and keeps moisture out. I have been using it for a long time on my Brat and it has saved it a lot longer than it would have lasted!! But make sure it is very clean and dry before doing this. So it's best in the summer

yeah probably best to just try to clean it well underneath after every storm, and then treat it when summer comes
