All the driving in the prarie, my god. You should see the dust come through the vents of my car. Crazy! I should probably run down to the scooby dealership and buy one today

you could do that, but i think they run in the $40 range, there is a guy on ebay that sells them for like $11 shipped. . .

i've seen some good ones

you know it's bad when it's permeated with mouse crap, and they've chewed a hole through it, and their dead babies are littering the climate system...

Some cars don't have them. but can be installed, the tray is there.

If you haven't read your owner's manual...

change it every 12 months, except Gspot, you'd better change yours every week.

Don't bring it to the dealer and ask to have it checked. Its nasty, they all are nasty, even the 3month old ones are nasty, its paper thin. So just get it changed or pull it out and throw it away and leave the space empty.

Also, keeping your cowl area clean will help keep your HVAC system clean. Those leafs, pine needles, and and tree poop you see lying around your wipers is getting sucked right into your cabin filter. Mice love Subarus. Don't let your car sit around much more than 4 days or they will move in and make a home.

I just changed mine, for the first time since I bought it.

The odo read 60K on the chassis.

Mine looked like Phil's, covered in filth, bugs, and shyte.

I got mine on ebay for about $11.00, it's not "oem", but it's a paper filter that fits in the appropriate hole, so I'm satisfied.

There was better ventilation and a/c circulation immediately, so it was a worthy investment.

Good reminder thread.

I wonder how much an OEM "HEPA" element costs-if it's even available??

i am told, you can get hepa filters that are designed for central air systems, from home depot, etc, that you can cut to shape, and for like $2x.xx, you get like 4 out of it. for what its worth.

i however, am sold on these ebay ones. freakin cheap, fast shipping, and perfect fit.

I checked mine last week to see if I even had one... after snapping one of those white tabs and losing a couple glove box screws, I didn't even have one in there!
