So, when before I did the turbo swap on my project car, I filled the tank up with 93 octane (back when we used to have it here in Maine). I think it's been about two years and it still has the same tank of gas in it because I haven't been able to drive it much. It still has about 3/4 tank, I believe. It's been running like **** and I thought because it was leaking boost. I just redid my y-pipe setup and although smoother, it didn't make a huge difference.
Before the y-pipe got replaced, the car hardly made any power and when you stepped on the gas, it would literally stutter. Quick, short stuttering ... and the exhaust sounded someone was firing a rifle. Since we just did the y-pipe, now it doesn't stutter hardly at all, but it's still making no power. Flooring it up the hill in my dad's neighborhood the other day brought us to only 4.something k rpm and it's a decent sized hill (I could probably make it to 4th in the Bee, although I'm not going to try).
So my question is, could it be that the fuel has degraded enough that it's causing this problem? If so, mixing some high octane fuel in should work, right? Or would I be better off pumping the gas out and putting some new stuff in it?
