so over the last 5 years i have been spoiled with my coffee makers. i have used only a Bodum Santos, which is an electric vacuum coffee maker. they retailed for about 200 bucks. best cup of coffee you can brew at home. I actually went through two of them, and they both ended in the same way, an electrical gremlin in the base makes the whole thing not work anymore. so its time to find anoter coffee maker

The problem is, they stopped making them about 3 years ago. they still make the Santos but its a stove top model and I dont need that aggrivation.

anyone recommend a top end coffee maker that they have had good luck with?

im interested in the Cuisinart DCC-2200 makes 14 cups and its pretty good looking. or the new Krupps. anyone have any luck with these?

I have a Cuisinart that makes the joe and puts it into an insulated carafe so it stays hot for hours. Me likey. Plus it's white & stainless so it matches the rest of the kitchen appliances.

im pretty happy with my Keurig.

Brews the perfect cup every time. no mess, no filter, no cleanup.

2 days ago, I would have agreed. Mine died yesterday though, after only 5mos. I've also never quite been impressed with the quality of the coffee from mine, either. We have one at work, and I love it. But I've been using the exact same coffee at home, and it never comes out as good. I really don't get that.

It's going back, and I'm just getting a cheapo Mr. Coffee and a couple pounds of Dunkin Donuts to replace it.

Cuisinart. Thermos style carafe, no heated base to burn house down and coffee stays fresh longer. 14 cups wastes

coffee and electricity. I'd go with the smallest that suits you needs.

A guy at work has a Keurig and it probably makes 50 cups per day. Still running strong. The french press makes great joe. Most of the time I just use a Bialetti espresso maker. Make the espresso and then mix in some warm milk. Delicious.

This is the one I have:

It's discontinued now but i've seen it at Lowes in the past couple months. Programmable and the 5 beeps that shriek when it's done are enough wake the dead.

Mine is like that, but has a built in grinder and a timer setting. Good stuff.

I have the Elite, which I beleive was the b40 when I got it. I only use it once or twice a week, so I went with the low end.

I've just been really disappointed with it, especially considering the cost and the fact that I love the one at work. GF says it's because I use tap water in it, but I doubt Oakland's tap water can be all that different from Pittsfield.

I haven't called support yet, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I do like it, I've just been disappointed. Not to mention, for the cost of it, I can get a matching coffee maker and deep fryer the GF has been eyeing.

I have this one

had one for 6mo and fried it (house electrical fault, also fried my microwave) fixed the fault and my new one has been going for about 3 years now no problems to report

I don't need all that hassle with making my own, I'm barely awake when I leave my house anyways,
