found this today, the guy stripped the lug nut on his rim while try to put new rims on. He could not get it off so he used a sawzall, at least he had another set

that was in the epic fail thread, but it was his posts on honda-tech....definately an ijit

i'd think paying the dealer would be a beter alternative then using a sawzall on an expensive rim

wow. when that happened to me i just drilled it out. took about 15min.
At least then you would only have to replace the wheel stud mostly likely and that is better then the whole rim.

yeah. a $4 lug stud from napa, pounding the old one out the back with a hammer and pulling the new one through with an old lug nut is a lot easier than his chosen path. but hey, that's the vw crowd for you. as you can tell from how their cars are designed, they're fans of doing it the hard way.

If you did something that stupid, would you post it on the internet for the world to laugh at you?

not on vw, it's a lug bolt, that threads into the hub, so he'd have to drill into it and use the ex-out, wheich he claimed to have done, but obviously didn't do it right

What a horrible idea! Why the hell would they do that?

because its VW, they have to do it backwards from everyone else. you should see their clutch setup. it goes, engine>clutch>flywheel, instead of engine>flywheel>clutch like every other car in the world.

umm...? WHAT? I need to look up how that works. That doesn't make any sense.

So I found out how that works ... WTF was the designer smoking? That's so much more complicated than it needs to be!!
