Removing MBC...

I've been using a MBC on my 02 WRX since I've owned the car (about 4 years). The previous owner installed it. I'm planning on getting an AP soon, so it needs to go. I've got no idea what I would need or what to do to revert back to the stock setup/boost. What would I need in terms of additional parts, and whats involved in reverting it back to stock?

Thanks.

Its really simple just get your hands on one of the stock boost controll solenoids. Install is a piece of cake.

Do you have a picture of how it's installed? I'd imagine it's on a tee from the line into the BCS and the turbo so that it bleeds off some pressure and makes the BCS think its running higher than it is.

If that's the case all you'd want is a new hose from the turbo to the BCS.

Here are some old old pics from a few years ago when I wanted to get it removed... but never got around to it.

So basically I just need one of these?

You need the stock "T" assembly as well as a couple lengths of vacuum hose to connect the T to the solenoid and the solenoid to the turbo inlet pipe. You can buy the T for like $15 from the dealer, make sure the restrictor is on the compressor side, it's indicated by a painted dot on the hose.

Here's an image of the routing, courtesy of Cobb Tuning:

Check to make sure the solenoid isn't still mounted there before you buy a new one. When I got my wagon I could see where someone had unhooked the mbc and just ran a connector between the vacuum lines. The stock solenoid was still there but none of the vacuum lines were run to it. I picked up a tee fitting and some vacuum line and hooked it back up. Good to go. Luckily the line with the restrictor pill was still there. Good move getting rid of the mbc in my opinion.

So I've got the lines figured out... the problem I'm having now is trying to locate the male ended power plug that plugs into the stock BCS... it should still be down there somewhere, correct?
