some kid at my school said that if i removed the 'FWD' fuse from my 02 wrx fuse box then i could run it RWD

i remember my friend used to do that with his old 2.5GT

does it work on the newer cars? i have a feeling its bad for your car though

does anyone know anything about this?

Ah, No...

The "FWD" fuse was on older automatic Subarus and was intended to be put IN (iirc) when you had an issue with the AWD system or had to put on a spare tire. It was for automatic, non-turbo cars only according to my TS owner's manual. It basically caused the center differential to disconnect from the rear drive shaft (grossly over-simplified) and switched the car from AWD to FWD.

I have never heard of any of the Subaru transmissions being able to switch into RWD only.

Yeah this was for auto's only, and for non turbos. And yes, you put a fuse IN, and it makes the car run in FWD. And is meant for if you get a flat, you put the doughnut on the rear, no matter where the flat is, and run it in FWD so it doesn't hurt the tranny. Or you can do crazy FWD burnouts LOL
