Hello!
Here is an overview so far of my first project car.
1992 Lexus SC300 auto, 130k, clean and in pretty good condition for a 20 year old car. Drove down to RI to pick it up.
The planned starting mods were:
1JZ-GTE Soarer swap
Coilovers
18" rims
HIDs
general repair, replacement LEDs in cluster needles, shave rear spoiler/add roof wing.
Coilovers were first, Megan EZ Street from ebay. Lowered and test fitted some borrowed 18" for offet.
Next was the cluster repair. Needed in the 92-96 SCs and ESs were prone to burn out. I made new tips with two resistors and a LED. Good eye sight and patience was needed.
Next was to get nicer wheels. Got a set of Volks off ebay and rolled the fenders.
The last large mod was the 1JZ itself. I found one from a Toyota Soarer. Largely plug and play except needing to extend the harness to reach the ECU and body plugs. The tach and temp were also expect to not work without some small mods.
Extending the harness took 11 hours over a weekend. About 150 wires needed to be cut and extended 18".
The rest of the swap after was easier. All the wiring was worth it to have it start the first try.
Mods planned for the spring are going to be fixing some of the minor rust spot on the drivers door, new leather seat covers for the rear, HIDs, and front lip. I have some parts waiting to be put in, front LS caliper and rear GS calipers.
This project has been really fun and good to have project to to work on with my brother, who got me interesting in this to began with. Went from almost 0 car knowledge to many nights researching swaps.
The far future may include trading the twins for a large single turbo and swapping the tan interior to black.
