scam on craigslist

I've seen a lot of people on here talk about ads on craigslist, so wanted to give everyone a heads up of a scam I recently encountered. I had posted an ad for some lowering springs for a mitsubishi I had, and someone replied and had overpaid me by a huge amount and wanted me to forward it western union to an address, well come to find out the check was fraud. But anyways, jsut wanted to give everyone a heads up bout it!!!!

I was trying to sell a netbook a while back and everytime I put the ad up I would get some doctor e-mailing me wanting to buy it as a gift for their nephew. They were always away on business at the time and wanted to send me extra money to expedite the shipping to Africa. I played along with one of them once and he wanted to pay with paypal so I gave him the info and I got an e-mail not too long afterwards. It was supposedly from paypal saying I had received a payment with the mailing info for the address to send the laptop to. I logged into paypal and sure enough no payment. It's pretty easy to spot the scams. They're all the same with the same bs story and the saddest part is people still fall for these scams which haven't changed in a decade. If you ever have to question if it's real you're probably better off just saying no and waiting for someone to meet you in person, cash in hand.

This was my first time ever posting an ad on there, and the guy overpayed me by $1700!!! then I got to thinking, and checking stuff out, he had a phone # that was from cali, the check was from NJ, and he wanted the money forwarded to TX, and then the bank called me and said the check came back fraud from a closed account. I'm just glad I didnt send the money out!!!

There are scammers all over. They have taken pictures of homes that are occupied by owners and put them on Craigs List saying renting for only $500.00 a month. They give the address and tell you to drive by but don`t disturb the "renters" that will be moving out soon. First one to send us a $500.00 deposit will be the lucky renter. If it sounds too good to be true 99% of the time it is.

I have had scammers try to get me just last week from craigslist... while selling our van I received e-mails from 3 different ppl with the same offer... trying to trade me a diamond ring worth way more than my asking price... and then two days later me account was hacked and shut down!!! so I learned to never ever put my e-mail address in the add.. craigslist has filters that look for scammers but it dose not work if they e-mail you directly.. scammers are everywhere even found some on free cycle.
