actually it was the lack of stuff stuck under there, such as lug studs, and a wheel. he hit turn 1 and stopped, it looked to me like the shady heli-coil inserts he used to attach his lug nuts pulled out under the cornering force. that caused the brake caliper to snap off, and the wheel to come off, and the wheel spacer to snap. i dont know if he got extended lug studs so he could use the spacers or what, but either way it was a bad idea to use a band-aid fix to attach the wheel on a race car. What was going on with that Rabbit? Cone stuck under there?
That 535 is my neighbor, and I went to high school with his son.The paint was gorgeous. There was a bunch of real nice machinery there. There was an older BMW 535 that was the cleanest car ever. The old 911 stole my heart though.
Nice pics Evan. I appreciate you being there and capturing the action.
