Well do to my wife's long term injury. We had to trade in the 2008 Fozzy 5MT Premium. We bought a 2011 Forester X 4EAT With the new 2.5 FB Engine. The new gen Forester's plastics seem a little cheaper to the touch. The 08 was a softer material. The seating is great in both cars but the passenger side front seat is a bit low and not height adjustable.
Power is better. Gas mileage is much better. 29 mpg Highway 26.5 mixed driving. Passenger room is much bigger but the back is no deeper. A tad taller and with no strut towers you gain there in cubic feet. But you really can't put anymore in the back than the 08. Ride is just as good but the rear needs a little more dampening. It can seem a bit bouncy. The new FB engine has a better power delivery. It really is no slouch. Trans shifts good and at the proper times. Sport shift is a nice feature when you want to use a little more power without having to mash down the gas peddle to down shift such as when hauling a trailer or driving in the mountains. Overall it is a good car. Handles the road great. Does not feel like it is going to fall over in the corners as much as the 08. As long as the new motor holds up it should be a really good car.
