With my friend recently being infected by the Koobface virus, I've felt a tad bit uneasy online, especially since she has me go into her accounts.

I was wondering if it's a good idea, in general, to download Malwarebytes?

I am not too familiar with what malware is (obviously it's malicious software or something).

I was also wondering if it's okay to download and use in conjuction with my AVG Free?

I'm not impressed by the reviews on MalwareBytes on CNET, but that's where I'd feel safest downloading from.

Here's the CNET link (MalwareBytes is the 4th one down):

http://download.cnet.com/windows/

Lavasoft adaware is what I would recommend, and if you really feel that you need antivirus software, AVG free is just about the best free program there is. The basic anniversary of adaware is also a free program.

Agree'd. Avast and malwarebytes are the current go to programs. That's what I use.

Exactly what I was going to say. I've fixed several computers for people recently and I install both on all machines I work on.

I took your advice and downloaded Malwarebytes that same night. It ran for 2 hours and 22 minutes, and it there wasn't a single malicious thingy on my computer, I knew there wouldn't be, but having that checked made me feel so much better!

Thanks everyone!
