Silverstar Light Bulbs

N/A All The Way!!
Does anyone else use these? I have been using Silverstars for years and keep coming back for more when they burn out....usually go through both high and low beams in a year which ends up being like $80 for lights. Is anyone else having to replace these things as often as I do? They work really well (not as good as HID obviously), but I wonder if GE bulbs or another brand have longer staying power....

I went through many sets in one of my old Imprezas. They are nice and bright, but I don't buy them anymore because they just don't last.

Osram makes very good bulbs, that are much brighter than the ss's, however, they are also prone to burning out. I run piaa's, which seem to last, and are good n bright

I never had an issue with the Silver Stars in my old Grand AM. I ran a set for 5 years, both highs and lows as well as corners and fogs. I lost 3 fogs and a low beam in 5 years. Not bad IMHO.

My father runs them in his 05 cummins and there still lasting after 2 years. he loves them! im trying to convince him to go to HID's in the low beams!

BTW, DO NOT touch the bulb with your greasy fingers while installing. The bulb will explode after a few hundred miles of use and leave the inside of your bulb housing fogged up. You will need to remove the headlamp housing and put bleach in there and slosh it around. Happened on my Dad's Dodge 2500 Pickup.

I ran piaas in my non hid housing headlights. Everyone thought I had hid's. Those were a great set of lights, until I got my Philips hid kit. Cant compare anything to that quality hid kit. If your stock lights don't display a cut off line DONT GET HID'S!!! You will have worse light output (where you need it) and blind every oncoming car. Im hoping cops will start cracking down on these 8000k and up lights, since they are illegal and unsafe. 8,10 and 12k hid kits are the new underglow fad. /Rant

I just replaced my low beams and the low beams on the wife's car with the silver stars. In the past, I have always replaced burned out bulbs with the SS's but thinking back, I didn't keep those cars long enough to give a good estimation on the life.

i had the silverstars in my sentra for about 2 years and never had a problem, but, where do you guys get piaas? I've been thinking sbout brighter lights with winter overtime coming, driving in at 11 at night

Depends on what silver stars you're talking about.

Sylvania is owned by Osram. Sylvania is probably the silver star bulbs you are talking about, available everwhere.

Osram also makes a silverstar bulb but its not the same as their Sylvania brand silver star. If you can get your hands on a set of Osram silver stars you'd be better off. They are much better.

I just picked up some Silver Star Ultra's for my high beams and they are awesome!

I use PIAA's for my lows which are superb as well
