OK guys/gals you can flame me if you want to but come on. "5" total member donations.

We all save money by having this site up. From the for sale area to 15% discount at Evergreen. I know money can be tight but come on. $5 bucks. That is less than the price of a six pack of beer or a couple of Red Bulls. When the adds showed up many people pipped up to say they hated them. Now they are gone and we need to finance the hosting and some of those people are now quite. Remember NOTHING is free.

Let the flaming begin.

I participate in the 50/50 raffles at the meets and buy merchandise (wearing my hoodie now). Plus VIP. Not knocking the donation system, just pointing out that people can contribute to the sites in other ways if they don't want to donate or are uncomfortable with it. You can also choose to donate anonymously.

You know the intent of this post. 50+- people go to meets and give that way. There are Hundreds of people that do not but enjoy the site and its benefits. Just trying to raise some chatter on the issue. The anonymous donation option is a great idea and hopefully this post informs people of that option.

 
I think part of it is that people don't always realize what it costs to maintain something like this.

 
I donated for the for sale stuff.

what people get related to my sube has more a chance than any subaru sponsored place..

I came here for the word "maine" and "subaru"...

donated anyway.

on a larger scale, the DIY articles for stuff is a heck of a donation, I keep a diary of my 80s subes elsewhere and only realize the value is too big for nitwits that can reply to the posts. Damn, I am older.

it is difficult what you have going here...a lot cheaper than it used to be, a lot faster.

integrity ends up the value, 5 bucks aint much. I'll do it again sometime.

 
As I said in the email, even a $2 donation is more than you think. If every active daily member (~120) donated just $2 we'd be set for almost a year.

Donations are much better than adds people and it's a little distressing to see so little donations. I've already donated $5.00 but if it gets down to the wire I can give more.

I've got a couple rolls of 50/50 tickets I can donate, but, no job = no $.

I'll can drop the tickets off with Shorty when I swap my tires sometime in the next 10 days.

 
I don't think the adds would be so bad if they were mostly car related items, guns, boats and what not.....but ultimately it comes down to whos paying the bills....ill donate as much as I can when I can to help fund this site...this isn't just nate and carters subaru site....this is mainely subarus..everyones site...were all apart of it...2 bucks is nothing.

 
I participate in the raffles at the meets when I go, but I have only been a few times. I figured I should donate but I thought I had to fix my paypal account first, I went to look today after feeling bad for not donating yet and found my account to be working fine! So I made my donation, lets help keep the site up guys. C'mon guys, this shouldn't be as hard as getting 50 cars together for a group drive.

idk about the ads, as I have adblocking shiz so it just shows up as a blank. if co. want to pay and have ads here, that is fine as I wont see any of them. even if I did it wouldnt bother me having ads, almost ever community has them, extra $ why not? just meens more features. it would be smart to have ads and donations. that way the community will be safe, finacialy....aslong as the $ builds up and is spent properly with notice (ie savings goals for upgrades aslong as ads$ + donation$ = <fees associated with upgrades.

I like this comunity because is smaller, close knit and not money whoring. I would hate for it to rely on $ from its users (whom some have lil) to operate and ask all the time.

bring on the money flow of ads, unless they are pay per click then unless your clicking each day to ensure the comunity is geting $.5 or $.50 or watever a click then donate. lol

if they are $.02 or $.15 per display then go for that aswell. as ill turn on ads for this domain.

idk im all ify with the "donation" thing as every comunity asks for that sorta stuff and kinda turns me off...I meen if I pay a hooker $ I best be getting something...other than an std lmao.

This is too much....

1. Ads only netted us money if people clicked on them, and at the small rate of return they were hardly worth having on there.

2. Do you feel like you don't get anything from this website? Has it not helped you with info, cheap parts, vendors with great service, the ability to discuss problems/issues with members? Why does it "turn you off" if we ask you to give back for some of what this place gives to you?

3. Do you even know what it takes (money wise) to keep this site available to you and everyone else? Do you know where this money comes from to run this site? After we buy shirts (for the members), decals (for the members), calendars (for the members), and setup group events (for the members), if we don't have enough to pay for hosting, software, upgrades, etc. IT COMES OUT OF CARTER AND MY POCKETS!

This is something we enjoy and like to have this community available for everyone, but it for a LONG TIME was a direct drain on our wallets. We have fought and fought to make this site self supporting. But we are hardly there. You think we are "money grubbing" because we ask for money? This may be a small, close knit website, but if we don't ask for money, IT STILL HAS TO GET PAID FOR.

If all members that got something out of this site pitched in only a couple bucks, this place would be more then self sufficient for years to come. the first time you go into Evergreen and buy a part at a discount (this site gets you) you can get the donation back in SAVINGS!!!!!!

While some don't have a problem pitching in for what they feel is a wonderful asset. We aren't asking you to do that if you dont want. But get out to a meet, take part in the 50/50 raffle, buy a decal, buy a shirt, buy a calendar, become a premium member. All of these things give back to the site, and help to keep it running. As far as Im concerned a shirt is a better return the that STD you got from the hooker you paid.

 
Dude, if you don't get anything out of this site. Fine. But don't bash those who really like this site and donate to keep their community going. It's sort of like a public library, you have to pay to use it to keep it up and going for your own use!
