Well just got my tags renewed for car and now made appointment for Friday when I get home to get the car up to date. Should I take the stright pipe out and put the high flow in? I usually do but only reason I am thinking about not doing it this time is cause the guy at Lees tire and service in topsham said I don't need it as long as the car is not to loud. So now I have the new muffler which knocked the sound levels down I think I should be ok.

Whats does everyone think?

I think you shouldnt go to Lee's

I say go try and get one without. Whats the worse they are gonna do fail you? Then you go home and stick it on and go back. But save yourself the trouble till they tell you to put it on.

You know what. Funny you say that. I really thought I liked that place but the vibe I got from them last time I took my wifes car there wasnt a good one. They only inspect my car no one else touches it besides Evergreen is the only place I have been for a non performance mode thing.

Does M&A do inspections?

Or Evergreen? Will Evergreen pass without a cat? What if I just brought the cat in and say here it is if you really need to see one. LOL.

What year is the car? If its older than a 96 it doesn't need a cat.

M+A does inspections... or just go find a small shop that probably won't care (Dr. Coffins in Bath)

Or just put your high flow back on and leave it on for good

power differences are minimal to none!

we used to hammer pieces of 2.5" ID muffler pipe from autozone into our stock SE-R cats. worked pretty good, but sounded like ****. didn't make a whole lot of difference either.

maine is dynamical with exahust.

if you can find the inspector with "as long as it is not resonating too much" mentality, you are doing good.

noise is nice..resonance shakes eyeballs and windows. a lot cannot undertsand this concept.

a rig with mufflers has increased resonance external..while internal gets quieter...all while making the same darn noise at all times, regardless of exhaust.

On the carbed engines, catless all the way back is no surprise..if to have carb timed cams, it is simply a whistling downdraft killing single fired cylinders...as well as feeding them. Noise is pleasant.

In contrast..new subes cannot do this..therefore trouble with inspections can happen. double fired and at least one catalayst would be necassary..resonator hollowed is a sure win.

sorry but every car that came with one from 1984 and up needs one for a inspection sticker in maine but some shop will let it slide

Well I had a inspection set for this afternoon. But, that doesn't matter anymore because now my car is not running at all. Think the motor finally decided to out the window.
