So what did you do on fathers day?

I started with a simple oil and transmission fluid change. New Amsoil in and all was good until i noticed a out CV boot torn and grease everywhere. So out comes that. Destroyed the outer tie-rod end because the cotter pin was rust in place and my good punches are at work. So she has a new axle all put together and just waiting on the rod end. I was dreading taking this all apart on a 17 year old car but that was the only issue. Coud have been worse. did not even need to heat any of it. i did put plenty of anti-sieze on all the bolts we will be doing the clutch maybe before winter. And now for a cold Beer. happy father day to all you dads.

You really don't have to remove the tie rod end to replace a cv, just take out the rear control arm bolt.

But anyway, I went fishing, and then we had a cook out!! Woohoo

Happy Fathers Day!

Woke up, wife made breakfast ( so rare, she hates to cook breakfast) Spent time with wife's Dad. Went to Mardens with wife and daughter. Then home, daughter down for a nap for 2 hours. After she woke, we went to my parents for a late lunch. Wife had to work tonight so daughter and I chilled at home. Now, just chillin with some vodka and setlzer, watching the US open..

Had brunch with my parents and grand parents yesterday. Got my dad a new tackle box. My family is upta (more like over to) camp as of yesterday so I didn't do anything today except recover/clean up from having friends over.

cotter pins that dont give up get shaved off as the nut backs off over it (brute force). Then drill out the hole once the nut is off, or poke out the remaining cotter pin from the hole with a punch or screw driver. They're pretty soft so they drill out easily.

ya Chris I know. Was driving out with cheap punch and that broke off in da hole. So spun off the nut and the thread came with it.

Also once we had it all apart you can see you can pop the shaft out without removing the rod end. It has been over Twenty years since the last time i swapped out an axle. It was still a good day with the boys as the wife was working.

grabbed my Dad and the boat and went to watch lobster boat races in Rockland. Whoa! have some Serious HP doods. With 7 or 8 900+ hp diesel boats going down the course at bull blast, we are talking wonderful noise.

Boats din't look bad either. My dad was editor of National Fisherman (commercial fishin newspaper) for many years, and he just loved to see all the burly Maine offshore fishing boats still going out there. 200+ boats in the spectator flotilla, yowZa!

One of the boats was running a dragster engine, it was SO LOUD!!!!!!!!! Boat broke its own speed record, 67+ mph. mebbe that don't sound fast but we are talkiong boats here not wheels and omfg was tht thing quick here it is "Foolish Pleasure" on a warm-up run. Note rooster tail behind boat!

shot of Foolish Pleasure slowing down after record run. Noted drunk in foreground saluting the new speed champ!
