Took him over a month to get this Spyder GT 6 speed up here. According to the dealer and Mitsi rep this is a one of car. There is only one 09 6 speed in this color and equipement in the country.

By far one of the worst cars I have ever rented. sorry to whoevers car this is but the car was so bad I actually took it back to Hertz and made them give me another car. Sad thing was the one I rented only had like 100 miles on it so it was almost brand spanking new.

 
Opps just read its your sons car. Sorry for the harsh words but I wasn't impressed.

Why cann't Mitsu go back to the old 2nd Gen. GSX's barnone the best eclipse body style ever and you had the awd too.

Maniac you couldn't talk him into a Subie?

I was waiting for your response Chris because I remember reading your account awhile back about your rental. First of all I agree with you the 08 4 cyl coupe is a tiny car that leaves a lot to be desired. This is a different animal. The 09 Gt convert has a much more stiffened frame and a suspension to match. This model has traction control a defeatable stability control and an upgraded exhaust system. It is not meant to compete with any Subaru, they don`t make a convert.

I am a Subie nut like most on this forum but no matter how far I twisted my sons arm and he`s been to 3 of our meets, he wanted a convert. He use to have a 99 Mustang convert with Cobra wheels and tires. The current upgraded machined wheels are 18x8 and ride on 235/45/18 tires. He plans on getting M 3`s or D`s for the winter to mount on these wheels and get chromed pro drives for the summer.

sounds like Mitsu treated the Spyder to midlife upgrades sort of like Subaru did with the 08 Rex to the 09s--looks like same old same old outside, but WAAY diffrent underneath where it counts.

and every company sells its bottom of the barrel strippers to be used in fleet service.

 
There is a new eclipse GT across the street from where I work, it has to be loaded to the max, its maroon and I really do think its an awesome looking car....if diamond star motors was still around I think they could have done wonders to this car.

To me the car looks better in mho because the 09`s recieved an EVO style front grill. I am generally immersed in Subie technology but when my son said that was the car he was going to buy I checked the car out online every which way and the only problem I saw was when the top is up you have some big blind spots. Also this car is for touring and not built to run with WRXs or STIs, that's what the Evo is for.

Its to bad you couldn't get him into a S2k. Yea the one I had sucked so bad. But like you said it was the 4 banger I think.

I was looking the 09' spyder gt's cost freakin $28,000.

My sons car has all the options & upgrades and listed at just under 34K and he paid just over 31k.

i didnt really like this body style at first, but this 09 def looks much better. congrats on the new car either way
