I put new speakers in k-dice's car. Stock sizes, aftermarket brands.
The fronts plopped right into the holes and fit nice but I had to drill new screw holes due to the new speakers having a 4 screw pattern and the stock layout is a 3 screw. The supplied screws with the new speakers did the trick.
The rears were the stock size from Pioneer but did not fit into the holes. I shimmed the speakers away from the door metal approx 1/2in and drilled the new holes (4 screw pattern again). Checked the door panel clearance. It was a close fit but it fit and the door panel snapped securely.
Great success. According to k-dice the new speakers sound 25% better, however the stock single disc head unit is still being used. I think she's now got a good baseline for some major thumpage. The hard stuff is done, now all she needs is a wicked head unit and a couple 10s and watts
