SPT CAI filter - to recharge, or replace?

I've got 15k on the filter now, and I'm kicking myself for losing track of the instructions that came with it.

Do you recharge these puppies a la K&N setups, or am I on the hook for another filter? Those filters look really pretty, so I can't imagine they're cheap.

Thanks!

I don't have an SPT, nor have I seen one myself. But I noticed this thread earlier and you still haven't got a reply... So I'm going offering some

I just did a quick search and on nabisco it says that the SPT intake cone is disposable... So I guess there is no recharging that piece. I also saw its about 40 bucks through your SPT dealer. But Joel would be the man to ask about that.

Hope that helped.

i oil mine well just once so it would change red instead of the normal color, but is there any harm in washing and oiling it if is looks cruddy?

I've been trying to geta straight answer from Subaru but it seems nobody I've talked to knows for sure.

It is the same as a K&N. If it was mine, I'd treat it as such. Wash and re-oil. I'm not done checking though.

If the final answer is "buy a new one", then I'm a-switching to a K&N cone so that I can wash & re-oil. No sense buying a $40 filter more than you have to, right?

Thanks for checking, Joel!

That's friggin hysterical. It's their premium product and they don't know how it works. :BangHead:

At $40 per, I'd be surprised if it wasn't washable.

AEM builds the intake and their website is all about their dry-charged filter.

I guess it's a throw away.
