so by the end of the day thursday i will be stage one. no catback yet but the tune and new K&N filter. the exhaust will be my christmas/birthday present. hoping t0 get about 25-30whp and 30lb ft tq out of it.

 
i never understood the stage thing. sounds like it was born from Video Games.

judging by the levels...my WRX wagon is like stage 2 or something.

i always thought stage 1 was stock.

 
stage one is reflashing your car so i will be running like 3.5 more lbs of boost plus it makes the car run better by leveling out the boost curve as well as hp etc. also with stage one it involves a new intake or in my case just a k&n drop in filter with the stock setup. xpt tests actually came out better with just a k&n opposed to a aem cai they said the boost curve was much smoother nto to mentipon its 200 bucks less. also generall stage one involves puttign on a cat back exhaust no downpipe u dotn really see gaisn from that just a nice sound

anyway, i think you'll like the stage1 flash. you should get slightly better cruising fuel economy (mine went up 2.8mpg when I was stage1, verified over 2 tanks), and more oomph for fun. all without sacrificing "reliability".

 
biggest change when i reflashed with my sti exhaust, perrin inlet hose, kn panel and bov was it felt smoother coming into boost.

i guess that makes me stage 1 lol

 
well its official im stage one now and all i can say is daaaaaammmm!!! definatly a huge improvment not just in power but drivability and how smooth the car is all the way through the rpm's. it keeps pullign hard now after 6k when before it used to drop of. it also pulls like a biatch now and man when you hit 5th gear... see ya!!! best investment i could of made.

it alsmost didnt get done though for some reason we tried flashign like 8 times and the ecu wouldnt except the new flash then otu of the blue it worked.

Yeah I'm going to ask Braden @ XPT about that. I had no problem flashing my car earlier today, and flashed Renshi's no problem as well. I think it's an ecu model part number difference. ECU locked me out once I downloaded the stock rom.... I'll let you know what's up.

hell honestly im not to sure. just took the car for amy true firts test rune after the reflash and dam. i had a msile on my face and at no time did i say man this needs ot be faster. i cant beleive im sayign this but im dam happy with the power of the car now so i think im gonan go cosmetic next maybe a rear sway bar to help with understeer before thinkign abotu stage 2

problem is i want an exhaust asap but if i get one now with no downpipe i need one that tapers off to 2.5 inches but if i ever do get a downpipe i need 3" all the way so not sure what to do yet

 
there are adapters you can buy to go from the stock downpipe to a 3" catback
