Starter rebiuld/cleaning

So i took the 2.2A starter apart and its full of crud inside. Cleaned everything and before putting it back together, just want to make sure that there's no grease that needs to be used on it.

Manual doesn't say anything, but it looked like it had grease inside (arund 3 gears) when i took it apart.

Any advice?

I've never taken apart a Subaru starter, but I'm thinkin if theres gears touching each other they need grease. Maybe a little bit. And some on the throw out shaft. Every 2.2 I've heard start in the last year has made that strangled squirrel sound. It must be the crud, dry crud.

what, cleaning? 30 mins or so. I''m not sure if the starter will work ever again thougH
