i thought i read earlier (before my wife kicked me off the laptop) that if i swap my intake manifold for a wrx or an STI then will would i expect a power increase?

If I remember correct an sti's manifold flows a little bit better than the wrx. Not sure though. If I were you I would buy a used sti manifold. You can grab one used for around $100 to $150 and then have someone that knows what they are doing and have them port and poishish if for you. Then send it off to get it ceramic coated. You would be looking at around $300 or so after all is said is done and have a much better flowing exhaust.

I have a really nice dremal with a really nice tool kit we could port and polish it up for yea.

the sti and wrx manifold flow the same. The sti version is powder coated wrinkle red and has a different bolt patten. You would get very little to no gains and im not even sure it would fit a NA without serious modification.

lol, I am a retard. I thought you were talking about the exhaust manifold.

ok same thing what STInate said they are the same except the sti's are powder coated crinkle red.

If you put it on your car you would more than likley not see any gains. If you upgrade to a bigger turbo and intake and I am talking much bigger then you might see some gains from it.

The thing is..... I don't think he has a turbo at all. Unless he did do a swap.?.? I asked him about this in the "sti hood scoop on a 97 legacy thread".

well in that case it would be completly useless for him to do then.

Only time you are going to really need the bigger breathing of the engine is if you go to a much bigger air intake charge. Like a supercharger or turbo. Even with my 20g it would be useless for me to even go to the Cosworth intake manifold or even to the camshafts.

On the boxer engine you only see an real gains from either of the two only if you get a port and polish and or a much bigger turbo upgrade.

I have talked to several shops about getting camshafts and stuff and the guys there have told me that the boxer isn't like a V8 it doesn't open up power just from putting in camshafts. Only way it would benefit is to to a port and polish and/or really bigger turbo to warrent the extra air intake.
