maybe a crotch rocket is the way to go at $4 a gallon gas haha
Nope - for good gas mileage (and to pull mad tail), here's what you need. 114 mpg last summer.

do you have a really short commute?

I would love to have a commute short enough to ride one. but at that point I would pedal.

yeah, hollis to sopo would be a little painful on one of those. i was almost thinking a ninja 250 because well it's just a really big scooter. hahaha

hmm... i was really hoping that the miata would get somewhere around the mid 30s being a 1.6 and light as hell. i don't have any highway commuting just back roads mostly. hmm.... the fun and the awsomeness is there, but it's not going to really save me any money on gas

Nope - drivers' license is all you need, as the engine is 49cc. That little thing is the only (as of last year, anyway) four-stroke, fuel-injected 49cc scoot on the market, hence the RIDICULOUS fuel economy.

OK, well - here's a thread for more further discussion (should it be necessary) of two-wheeled, i/c engine-driven transportation.

Motorcycle, scooter, and moped info welcome, but know that the moped people will get laughed at as much in here as they do on the road

What model is that pimping blue thing? That would be a great way to get around in the summer!
That's a 2007 Yamaha C3. There's also a Yamaha "C3" concert grand piano, however that model gets significantly worse mpg.

Bought it at Reynolds' Motorsports in Buxton, ME last March or April for $2,100. I was out the door with inspection, title, tax, and two helmets for $2,400. Put 1400 miles on it just putting around Portland, Westbrook, Falmouth, Yarmouth, Freeport, SoPo, Scarborough, and Gorham. Took 'er on a trip with a buddy that also rides scoots from Hampden to Bar Harbor and back (and up Cadillac mtn, to boot).

Longer rides aren't bad on this thing, 'cause it rides more like a cruiser than a sportbike.

how fast does it go?

~42-45 with my fat ass on it. I'm a full 80lbs over the "weight limit" in the manual of 180lbs, so it might get there a bit quicker if a lighter person was on it.

Planning to replace clutch weights and switch to a kevlar belt this summer...

I haven't found an exhaust for it yet, but I'm still looking. With the regular old two-stroke motors, it wasn't really a big deal to swap out exhausts and stuff. With this FI 4-stroke, though...gonna be more complex. What I'm REALLY curious to find is engine management for the thing. I mean, if there's a computer in there that controlls the fuel delivery system, that means it can be reprogrammed >

THEN you'll see aftermarket exhausts on 'em, for sure.

it really seems with the price of gas the way it is. that two wheels are going to be the way to go this summer.
if we get as much rain as we did snow... it's gonna suck riding in the rain.
