Well i got home money for best buy.. So I'm going to be putting a system in my car.. What do you guys recommend for a head unit, speakers, amp for sub, sub, and box.. I'm new to this stuff in Subarus.. Also what and I going to need for a Dash kit and hook ups for the head unit.. All this stuff is not going to be coming from best buy, by the way. Also sizes for the speakers

Scratch that I'm just going with a stereo and speakers.. Will the Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD work in my car? and also what size speakers should i get Cutch feild calls for 5" and 4.25" but thos are hard to find so how hard would it be to mount lets say 6.5"

i just picked up a Kenwood head unit for my car, all you should need is the wiring harness so you can splice the new unit into the stock wiring. Just adding a new head unit will increase the sound quality from your speakers due to more wattege, I am not sure as to the fitment of the PIONEER however. As far as I know you should not need a trim kit, unless you have the 6disc changer, because Subaru was smart and made their stock unit the same size as the aftermarket one. 2point5RS_Dan has installed one in his car, I am sure he will chime in, but should be a simple install matching wire colors, in the harness basically.

Also Best buy is currently out of wiring harnesses, so Crutchfeld or Dr. Stereo in scarbourough should have one.

Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD will fit. It's double din. No idea about speakers. I just have stockers and I haven't ripped off the door panels to see how much actual room there is.

I have the 6 disc.. so your saying i would need a trim kit?

Post up a picture of your stereo/dash and we'll see. I'm not sure on specific models except that most of the mid-newish Legacies ('05-07-09?) have a super funky-looking system built into the dash.

No need for him to post pics. Din's are the rectangle where the radio goes, smart car makers make them the standard din size. Impreza's are 2 din. The 6 disk is 2 din. The Pioneer he's looking at is 2 din.

NO trim kit is needed.

K thanks Dan

Fitting anthing other than what Crutchfield recomends will NOT be easy. The stock speakers are relatively shallow and there is very little extra room around them. Even if you have the right size speakers you may still need to use a spacer to have enough room behind them to roll the window all the way down. I had to use a piece or 1/2" MDF for my Pioneer speakers. Three (?) mounting holes instead of four is a pain in the butt too. I say ? because it's been a while and I don't remember if it was three or four, i think i had to mount the speaker to the spacer and them mount the spacer. Thankfully there is a good amount of room in front of the metal door and behind the plastic door panel. But I would not want to modify the door enought to put something bigger than stock.

Also, Subaru's speaker may be the worst in the world. You will definitly notice it if you don't swap them out.

the worst part for me was, i went to change my front speakers that called for 6.5, got the panel off and the hole is 7, contoured funny and an adapter was needed. and nobody could find one. i don't know if your year is the same, but i'd check first

can said adapters be foun on the interwebz? if so can you find me alink, i'm still running stock speakers up front because i never found adapters

yeah crutch feild sent me some adapters for free

.. anyone know if im going to need Fiber board for spacers?

yes your going to need spacers, the wrx doors a really small amount of room for speakers without making or buying spacers, go here http://www2.kartboy.com/x4/product.php?productid=16154&cat=253&page=2

those are made for the wrx and fit perfect. What size speakers did you buy? I suggest JL Audio CTX they have amazing mid bass and great highs. Also I would have a real shop install them if you dont think you can, look for a local place other than bestbuy.
