TD04

Found a td04 for sale, $75. checking into condition, supposedly has 75k miles on it. Also checking into what it is off of. Good price? Possibly bad?

last i checked 100-125 was normal price, but theres no way to tell how many miles are on what you're buying. just make sure you get confirmation that theres no side to side shaft play or end play, and it spins freely.

I found another ...

td04 turbo and oil feed line with less than 3k, mint $250

He said he bought the car new in 2006 and swapped it out before the 07s came out. Good price?

Will this bolt right up to my motor and will I need EM for it?

No! ... Subarude! What'chu got for me!? Do you still have that IC with pipes too?

a wrx turbo will bolt in, BUT your turbo has a 90 elbow coming off of it. the JDM ones have that elbow built into the the turbo. bit you could probaly make it work with a 90 silicon elbow.

peters has a 90 degree because it's a JDM style turbo. yours should be a 90 as well.

as USDM tdo4 has a straight inlet. like i said you might be able to rig it with a silicon elbow though

Doesn't mine have the 45 degree? The td04 would have the 90 degree I thought ...
He's talking about the INLET, where the air enters the turbo from the front. The the US TD04 has a straight pipe inlet as opposed to the 90degree metal elbow that's on the front of the JDM TD04 You can fab something up for an inlet for the US TD04 but the reason that I went with that turbo on (what's currently) evilaspie's ride is that it was relatively easy to set up. Oh and I got it for the LDR team price:)

If you are going to spend that kind of money why don't you get a TD05-16G? Any input there Nigel or Jomo?

That's a TD05-16G turbo, see how the inlet has an elbow that turns 90 degrees upwards?

That's the front of an US TD04, it has a straight inlet, I.E no 90 degree bend

Ah ha .. now if I did the td04, would I need EM? Right now, the way the wiring is .. I don't think it's very EM friendly. I need to fix that first before I do any EM I think, but I also need to replace the turbo (cause I think the seals are going). In order to do the wiring the way I want, I'm going to need a new 97 impreza 2.2 na harness and my 2.2 na intake mani ... then I will NEEEED EM because there will be nothing to control the turbo with the non turbo ecu

All I ran was an MBC and went reaaaaallly slow bringing the boost up. I don't remember what wastegate boost is on that turbo but I believe it's more than you want to run. I ran 12-16 PSI and never had any issues with knocking, misfiring, etc.

And that was speedpants' POS cjeapo MBC and it worked fine. Recently tho, I heard it stopped working. :

The leg is running on 10-11psi (waiting for FCD) with a WRX TMIC, STi fuel pump, and no addition EM. Not that an EM wouldn't help i'm sure. Getting the air/fuel right i'm sure would add even more kick.

But she does run pretty damn good, exempt for that crazy whistle sound that i am pretty sure is coming from the intake somewhere, as the exhaust has been fixed. There is always one more thing with that damn car.

A td05-16g would be the shat!!

It's supposed to whistle dude!!
Not this kind!! This is super high pitched and is getting worse. It now starts before i even reach boost and performance is being affected. Sounds like an post turbo intake leak to me. And the noise sounds like it is coming form somewhere around/under the IC. Which is all "new" stuff, just needs to be removed and double checked i hope. But it is just such a PITA to do.

Anyway Ty any TD04 will work for you, you just might need to do a little more custom piping.

I've got a friend who works as an engineer and he said he could make me any piping I would need so, hopefully it shouldn't be as tight a fit as yours >
