tech question: Fozzy fuel filler

OK, it's 'solve the old Fozzy mystery' time.

recently replced fuel pump on 00 Fox, 179k. OK so the used fuel pump now works fine, except car has developed weird fuel filler issue--unless tank is nearly empty, you can't pump fuel in, it keeps shutting off. sometimes if you ram the pump nozzle in and pump full blast it will be OK, but only sometimes.

WTF??? all hoses from fuel pump were reconnected properly (actually since all the hoses are different, it's pretty had to eff tht up) so what could the issue be???

this is a pain in the ars to fix its a relief vavle in the tank which can only only be changed with the tank out of the car

oh? Eff. once in every great while I have to put gas in at about half speed otherwise the pump shuts off. Probably this same problem

mmm, figures. wonder why the problem only showed up after changing fuel pump...wasn't an issue before. wondering if the replacement pump (out of older impreza) maybe doesn't have the relief valve or something?
