The dog that killed hoonage

The vid is a narrators view on simplicity. I liked it, and it generated opinions. My nick pretty much says where I drew the line, as if to stop in time. I still fear stuck power windows, a lonely road into a ditch full of water upside down...

There are many serious things to say on my own behalf, a mechanical career, and military related as well.

The bad vibe about a lot of electrical/electronics and feminine automation is happening like a bad prophecy already known by smarter with no say in engineering. Solid states disappearing with a smiling marketer claiming better than ever. It is a real subject...

if anything, stay smart, raise doubts, and hack your car if you know damn well it is for the better...especially subes as I have learned them, this my 13th year.

Interesting video. Some points I agree with, some I don't.

Agree:

I agree that the general public is turning towards a nanny state when it comes to personal responsibility when driving. I rant about SUV wielding soccer moms enough as is.

I agree that traction control dilutes some vehicles, but at the same time it is needed because most people are scrublords when it comes to driving.

I agree that ****ing around in a car at a young age in a controlled environment is a good way to learn car control skills.

I agree that driving a slow car fast is more rewarding then driving a fast car slow.

Disagree:

No tech is the way to roll. EFI is worth it and I'd rather deal with OBDII then carbs ANYDAY.

The problem is we need technology to protect us from the "innovation" over the years. The original 5.0 in the mustangs was rated at 220hp in 1968 running on a two barrel carb. The v6 was around 140ish if that. Not particularly fast at all. Ford is redoing the motors for 2011 with the V6 making 300hp and the new 5.0 v8 making 425~hp. Times change, performance changes. When you have a v6 "hairdresser"/"teenage girl" car that could barely get out of it's own way, you don't need much nannying, but when you take that bottom end car and throw 300hp at it stock, you're going to have to throw in some tech to make sure the non-performance oriented driver doesn't loop it in a car out of his/her driving league.

I'm all for having traction control fun police in cars as it keeps stupid drivers safe, I just like being able to turn them off since I have at least a vague idea of what I'm doing.
