thule rack and 07 wagon

...so I just got 2 thule bike carriers for my wagon. I have the subaru aero bars and joel hooked me up with the adapters to bolt them together. I got the racks on and now the hatch won't open all the way... anyone else had this problem? I've thought of having the machine shop at work cut the bars shorter, which I don't want to do, and I can't turn them around because of how the adapters fit.... ideas?

I'm sure you've tried it, but moving the bar for the bike trays as close to the front as possible might help....

On my set up, I have the thule load bars attached to the factory rails. In the middle is my roof box and on either side are the bike trays. The deck opens all the way with the bike trays on either side. This however might set you back a couple more dollars, but if its something you want to do, check out craigslist.com or unclehenrys.com for some used thule gear. I found some really solid deals that saved me some cash for my set up. Good luck with it man.

where the subaru rails sit so low and they were all the way forward, it still left me a few inches shy... I ended up getting frustrated and took a sawzall to them:eek: after I put the endcap on the back you can't even tell the difference. But thank you for the advice

after I cut and installed the bars and attached the bikes. I know the ratchet straps make it look 100x more ghetto but they wiggle a few inches back and forth and we're going to pennsylvania for vacation tomorrow and didn't want them to come loose o_O I definately like how the Subaru bars look with the bike racks, I think the thule ones sit too high, but that's just me. and I think the added height would have fixed it so I wouldn't have needed to cut, but an add-on without a bit of customizing isn't much fun
