To all you Miata Owners...

I just got back from visiting my family in Tennessee. My step-mom picked up a green 1997 Miata as something to drive around when it's nice outside. As soon as I saw it in the garage I had the keys and was out ripping around town. The roads in NE Tennessee are VERY windy and hilly. I have to say, this little car with stock EVERYTHING handled AWESOME!!! The power was a disappointment, but the grin factor from slinging it into corners faster than I should have been definitely made up for it. I can only imagine one of these cars with some suspension, sticky tires and a little turbo under the hood. Moral of the story... I WANT ONE!!!

Cliffnotes : Drove a Miata while on vacation, now I want one.

They are cool cars, always liked them. Would love to have a dedicated one for the track, roll cage and all. Sweetness.....

this reaction is exactly why Miata is the best selling sports car...evAr.

and much like Subarus, modded Miatas are almost never as all-around nice to drive as stock ones...there's always some big tradeoff--rough ride loss of suspesnion travel, excess weight, etc.

I can tell you the handling is what makes it faster on an autoX course than a WRX.

with too much more power they become a bit dangerous.

I can see how it could get dangerous with more power

it was wet on the road (and there were some leaves or something in the road ) and spun 2nd gear an EASY 150 feet. I can only imagine what 180-200 whp would do to one of them....

that lack of grip is why miatas have never caught on in rallyx. sounds like you had an early one without the good Torsen lsd...one-wheel drive don't cut it, man.

plus, even with the lsd they are comically hilariously utterly outrageously sucky in the snow.

yea this one had 1 wheel peel all over the place... no LSD but somehow I doubt my step mom is every going to need one.

what are you otter guys getting for gas milage? im seriously thinking about picking one up once the GC is paid off this summer.
28ish on the highway. they rev really high in 5th on the highway.

;D pedro i think vinny has a pic of noel and i in your miata two 300+ guys in that car funny pic
in my miata? Oh was it when I brought it to Patriot for an alignment?

hmm that's pretty much like the GC, at 75 i'm reving somewhere around 3-3.5k i don't remember exactly. but yeah kinda kills your milage on the highway.

hmm maybe a crotch rocket is the way to go at $4 a gallon gas haha

brockman claims 30+ so i am not sure what he is doing differently.

my mileage has been hi 20s at best. average is 25ish, it's hard to do better when you're always winding it out to hear the exhaust music.

Miatia is not a highway cruiser, more like a highway buzzer.

great 2-lane commuter rig tho!

this is now the "Groovy little drop-top hijacked by even groovier scooters" thread ??!!

STanley Scooters in Ellsworth imports sexay Italian Vespas, they are selling like hotcakes. No special licens for the 49cc jobbies, tho they have 250cc ones that go like hell and require a regular motorcycle license.

they also rent Vespas in the Acadia Park area...what a blast, tooling around Ocean Loop in a wasabi-green Vespa with matching helmet...
