So this is the beginning, Sold the 04 WRX, and finished the deal to get this car (its been in the works for a couple years).  1993 Legacy Turbo. Automatic, 160k, never modified. Still has the factory exhaust, with no leaks. Interior is in really nice shape, just looks like a bomb went off in there, that was full of dirt and grime. Has some fairly major rust issues in the PS quarter panel/ wheel arch/ rocker panel, but is fixable, and will be repaired soon.   Sunroof does not leak a drop, everything seems to work, other than it doesn't want to lock into park enough to start it, throw it in N, starts right up. Linkage adjustment I suspect.  Drove it home last night, first real trip down the road since late 08... surprisingly fast for the old gas.

The car came with: new struts, new tires on the factory turbo wheels, and drilled rotors/ ceramic pads, all installed just before it was parked. Plus more grime than you could ask for. It was parked between a connex container and a big ol tree, so the sun never got to it, just nasty fallout from the trees and sky over the years. I cleaned it up a lot since I took the pics, most of the rust you see is sanded surface rust, other than the lower front part of the rear quarters. Im sure there's more, but its 3 am, I couldn't sleep, my wrecked right arm is killing me right now, so I figured Id get up and post some stuff.  PS, don't mind the junkyard in the background.... Im not allowed to lift more than a soda can right now with my right hand, spring cleanup is coming a little late this year... Beer happens to weigh just a little less than soda, right?                            PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!:

Sounds and looks like it's in decent shape!  Any plans for engine modifications?  Are you sticking with Quick Silver Metallic after you get the rust fixed?

Lots of great information and people at http://bbs.legacycentral.org/

Looks good! What are your plans for mods? For more power a set of 2.5 heads, a used vf39, Robtuned eg20ecu and a 3" tbe will get you close to Sti territory. Converting to a manual is not very hard but if you make decent power your transmission will not last (I went through 2 before the 6 speed). You are going to love this car especially after you finish addressing the rust. Now with you included I can think of 5 first gens on this site.

Plan is to stay silver with dark tinted windows, then add gold wheels and coilovers, possibly some good swaybars. It will most likely be introduced to a guy named Mike as soon as the body is in shape. It needs a lot of basic stuff, rad hoses are a bit crunchy, going to do new brake lines, nothing really major, I don't want to ruin the original idea of the car, just add to what they did a bit.  Im thinking for power, installing my front mount, with Meyagi piping, decent TBE , upgrade the turbo a bit, add a boost controller ( I had a really nice HKS EVC touchscreen in my 240sx..should have kept that)  , probably do an EWG with a screamer pipe (I have a Tial 38mm right now) to help the noise level get up to a reasonable level. Then probably upgrade the tranny  after I break it.   I couldn't stand the idea of an automatic Subaru til now... this thing goes really good.  I wish I had tried out an auto WRX, just to see what it did before I drove this car.  Im heading out in a few minutes to gut and clean the interior.  My investment went down by about 10 bucks yesterday, finding ones and change everywhere in the interior... this would be way quicker if my right arm was useful, but Ill get by I guess.... edit: forgot to add the heads being upgraded as well in the plan...

auto wrx is no fun lol

Yeah, I figured as much, but right now shifting isn't really possible with my arm out of commission, I have a week and a half left til I go back to work, its been almost 2 months now. I almost miss it....  Anyway, I got the interior tidied up a lot. 2  full bags of garbage, 67 cans and bottles, $11.75 in change and ones... plus all the stuff that gets "forgotten" under the seats.   Its coming out nice, but Im out of vinyl treatment, and cant find my enzyme cleaner, so now the hunt is on for a driver to get me to the shop for supplies... not driving sucks!  Ill get pics after I've enzymed everything. Found one little (1/8") hold in the driver's seat, and a couple scuffs here and there, but its really decent for how its been treated.  Cars are not dumpsters!  People need to figure that out. It also still has the factory trunk box deal thingy in new condition. I've never seen one. Ill have to lose it when the stereo goes in, but its a really cool idea.

So after the enzyme treatment, and bodywork estimates, its time to wire it for sound. Going for a period correct Soundstream Reference system, I think I can find some old SS12R subs, and all of my old amps are still around... early 90's higher end sound quality gear is still the best stuff Ive ever heard. The fun begins!

Oh, I thought the mushy handling was supposed to be there.   I should have included new bushings in the swaybars part. It actually goes down the road, and absorbs the rough bumps pretty good, but would benefit from a fresh set for sure! I just got out of a tired WRX with 265,000 miles on it, so my expectations of what this one can do handlingwise are probably too low...

Dont forget bushings. A 20 year old car is going to have really rotten and smoothed bushings. Turn in Concepts. Done.
Just checked them out.. didn't see anything for any older than 05?

The legacy is the same as impreza underneath. Shoot them an email or call. Most impreza junk will fit your car.

Except for those damn rear diff bushings. Those are the press in ones that are a pain to remove.

Im figuring a torch will come into play, just like my old 87 Chevy hilljack-mobile. We had to burn out almost every bushing to install the lift...

Very nice Alan, looks just like my old SS.  Lots of fun, cheap power
Could be your old car. The guy I got it off bought it to build with his younger brother, they ended up doing a JDM swap into an older impreza, and then a 5 spd SVX, this sat out back for years...... anyway, they got it somewhere out your way, it was at a little redneck car dealer he said.  The guy selling it didn't know just why it "goes like such a bahstad"..haha  If it ever stops raining, I have the guy who did Urabus's bodywork taking a look at it. I need to do a bit of homework, but I think I found the heads I need in the junkyard, I also snagged a Forester lift for the OBS, and a set of the big ol driving lights from a bugeye 2.5TS...

Yeah, that's what they are, just need to pull them, and do a little inspection. motor was supposedly pulled because of a lower end knock...  now to find an ecu to get reworked...
