Tonite may be the last time I ever get to eat at my favorite place

Local pizza place here in town. Been a dedicated customer for some 20yrs now.

Teh GF moved into town a few months ago, and I helped her get a job there a little over a month ago. Everyone loved her, and all the managers and the owners said she's one of the best employees they've had, save for one manager. Dont really know what his problem was either, he never said.

Last week, she fell and fractured her ankle, on the way to work no less. Calls in to let the managers know, and to update her situation over the next couple days, and they all say the same thing. "Talk to this manager, coordinate with him when you can come back to work". Well, she goes to see said manager (happened to be the same that didn't like her) to get back to work, and he fires her. Says she missed too much.

So, she's devastated for losing the job over an accident, and after all the other managers and the co-owner said "just rest and come back in a week or so". The whole thing smells of BS.

But anyway, I digress, as I really should have no involvement in it. I do have a bit of a moral confict with it, should I give them my business anymore or not? But I decide again, that I should just not involve myself and let everything resolve itself.

Until tonite. Find out late my daughters aren't coming home, and I have nothing in the house to eat for just myself, so I figured I'd go get a 'zone. I go in, and everyone there, people I've known for years and was making plans to go out with as recent as last week, act like I'm not even there. Aside from that strongly alluding to some BS involved in the firing, I also felt highly disrespected considering how long I've been a customer, longer than they have even worked there.

So, until I get an apology from the owner for the way I was treated, and the way my GF was let go, looks like I'll be without the best pizza around.

C/N: GF get fired (rather shady) from pizza joint I've been a long-time customer at, go in tonite and get treated nobody. No more good pizza for EJ for a while.

Yeah, dont go back. If someone holds differences and cant see good quality work then F them.

I wouldnt give them business either considering the craptastic way they handled the entire situation including the way you got treated tonight.....just ridiculous...

Better yet, order pizza from the like once every other month, eat half of it and then complain, get your money back.

If they're going to be pricks, do it right back man. >

If this is an eat in place, go and order a soda and sit in the corner and just watch them. Never say a word just look at them. If they come up to speak to you just walk out and then repeat the process at a later date. That way you have done nothing wrong or threatening in anyway and you have purchased something,so they have no recourse. >

order 25 pizzas and never go pick them up.
Better yet, order 25 cheese pizzas... then flip out and tell them you wanted pepperonis.

Then when they make those, tell em you're so pissed you don't even want them anymore. :

;D ;D

The other employee's may have just felt awkward and didn't know how to act, so they just hoped you didn't come in to flip out.

I know when people have gotten canned at places I've worked, I didn't know how to talk to them. "hey man, how're you doin'" Isn't always the best question. I wouldn't punish the owner because of the bad manager. Maybe the owner knows the manager sucks, but can't find a sutable replacement and is keeping him in the meantime.

I go in and act like you are old friends with everyone, say no hard feelings and order a pie. The pizza joint will be there after the manager is gone and good pizza is hard to beat.

Unless your girl doesn't want you to eat there. If she says "no", stay away.

All that means is theres not a clear communication from the management about why she was let go.

I'll join the boycott with you, 'cause even if there is one asshat manager that made your GF's life difficult, the other (hopefully less prone to asshattery) managers should have stepped in.

Oh, and for the record - don't EVER get DiGiorno's cheddar-stuffed crust pizza. Bought it by mistake. Blah.

hmmm.. what's that smell?........oh wait, I know what it is ........it's a lawsuit cooking up . That's BS, did the fall happen on her own time or coming/going from work?

Did you get any info from Lawdawg?

Just to answer a few questions:

Lawsuit is a no. She was on her time, just on her way in, and it actually happened at my house. If anyone has to worry about a lawsuit, it's me.

I also have no desire to disrupt or hurt their business. Notice I haven't named them? For 20yrs, they have provided excellent service and food.

I have been on both sides of a firing and this kind of post-firing situation myself, and I fully understand it can be awkward. But even when awkward, I at least tried to be respectful and treat them like nothing had happened. Maybe that's me in the wrong on that one, though.

Regardless, the co-owner is on this morning, and she planned on going in to talk with him to see if he'll tell her what happened. May work out to her favor, may not, I just told her to make sure she doesn't burn any bridges, as even dick manager said he'd give her a good ref.

That is a bit shady. For me, I would ban that place and let people know you are not going there anymore. Hope your girl is alright.

As for Pizza, there are tons of other places, or atleast around Portland there is.

For a guy named Evil Jeff you're pretty nice ;D

Honestly though, I think you southerners don't know good pizza. Everyone down your way raves about Portland Pie, and when I worked down there, I was less than impressed with them.
+1

leonardo's is my current favorite in portland
