I want put a wrx hood on a non wrx dumb idea ? Be last thing I do cosmetically pretty much looks like wrx minis the turbo

meh. whatever floats your boat. it is quite a bit lighter weight.

I would look for a hoodscoop delete as you don't need it.

 
It almost sounds like he was doing it for the hood scoop. I can't see a problem, most imprezas before 2002 had hood scoops anyway and almost none of them had turbos unless they were custom Jobs IIRC. Does anyone think there would be a problem with excess water getting in to the hood scoop? That would be my concern, but the WRXs seem to take it just fine.

Really? Why is it that much lighter? I thought it was just the STI hood that was a lot lighter becuase it was made of aluminum.

 
bugeye rex hoods = alloy

beware tho, aluminum Subie hoods dent very easily from hail or whacking ice n snow off the car...BTDT

I have a11 so proubly 08-11. I believe they changed to wide body and hood proubly different after 11

 
The 2006 WRX hood is aluminum as well.

the last I had heard the impreza hood was ~40lbs and the wrx hood was ~20

 
the scoop might give you a little unwanted attention for cops or boy racers.. Assuming you want my opinion (which you don't have to agree with) I'd save the money and throw it into suspension or something instead! It's Your car, dont let other tell ya what to do

The stock 2009 WRX hood and roof and everything else dents pretty easily with hail too, I have a dented car to prove it.

My understanding is the WRX & STI hoods have always been compatible, the only differenct is the materials used. The 2011 WRX has the STI widebody with a different front bumper, but the hood should still be the same.
