Tree Removal?

Can anyone recommend (or does anyone on here do) tree removal in the Windham area? I've got a tree in my yard that looks pretty ominous and i fear that it would crush my neighbor's trailer in next lot over if it fell. Anyone had a tree removed lately? How much am i looking at? The stump can stay, I dont care if that's around.

A very good friend of mine is an arborist and owns his own company (based in Windham). I'm getting his contact info now and will post it in this thread. He does good work, and really loves his job...

His number is 207-232-7676. Seaview Tree & Landscape, Inc. Chris Cerullo is his name. I'd say "tell him I sent you" if that would get you better treatment, but he treats everyone damn well anyway.

Ah, hell - tell him that Jim O'Brien sent you - couldn't hurt.

If Jim's friend doesn't work try Marston's Tree Service out of Naples, or The Q Team out of Naples.

I like my method.

Step 1: Procure truck

Step 2: Procure long rope (preferably with a hook on the end)

Step 3: Throw rope near top of tree and make sure it is secure

Step 4: Attach rope to truck

Now this is where things get dicey...ha.

Step 5: Check expiration dates on all insurance policies

Step 6: Procure friend with chainsaw

Step 7: Get in truck, put in gear, tension rope, have friend start cutting

Step 8: Apply pressure to pedal to ensure that tree falls in direction of truck

Step 9: I hope you procured a rope long enough so that said tree will not fall onto truck

Step 10: By this time the tree should either be on the ground, on the truck, or in rare cases...in the living room.

Ty I tried your method. Didn't work well for me.

You have to have a fully braided rope (no sheathed or core rope) or it will stretch and fall whatever way it decides to fall. Yeah, I used the cheap rope from Home Depot. Lets just say the branches 'caressed' the power lines and my driveway was occupied by a large inanimate object for a few hours. Another 1ft the other way and the house would have been without a south side and I would have been without power til CMP decided I was humiliated enough.

From now on I leave the close quarters trees for the pros. ;D
