So im trying to replace my home heating oil tank and I have a new one right next to it. My problem is I cant get the pipes on the top disconnected for the life of me. Are they weilded on there or something? They are threaded but they wont budge.

bigger wrench. you may have to take the entire fill and vent apart to get the old tank out. because they go together in order. you will be fighting everything while taking it apart.

Yea i sprayed everyting down with pb blaster and im using a fairly large wrench but I will find a bigger one. A buddy on mine already broke a pinky in the process.

From what i know, the feed is built up from the tank. Chances are it been reefed tight in the tank and the next joint. plus i;m sure you have bends in the pipe, so when trying to loosen the tank side, the other side will have nowhere to go. . .02

cut the pipes and rebuild them if you can... or just cut it at the tank, and loosen it at thejoint and replace the pipe.... .03 cents

except if i'm guessing correctly. he has nothing to cut with and nothing to repair with. just a reasonably sized wrench, strong will, and a big heart.

and a low checking account balance.

Welcome to owning a house!!!!

Ill fix your oil tank, if you pay my bill for the sewer line i had to pay to replace ($5300). Big hearts get you no where. I know because i have a huge one, and I still got bent over.

You may try hacksawing off the old pipes. Make sure you've taken out all the oil you want out of it first because it going to get filled with metal bits. Get rid of the tank, and replace the piping. Chances are if its old, the fittings are out of code anyway. I know I had to have mine updated.

Nate. If the old tank is not being used just sawz-all the pipes. If you do not have one just call me and i'll come up with mine and cut that puppy out. I did the same with mine in october. 324-7951 Look out front some suby owner was blowing circles in front of your house this morning around 7am:iam:

Haha that's what that sound was lol. I go ripping past your house all the time. I might just have to take you up on that because this thing is pissing me off something fierce. Im going to wait a few more weeks though for the oil level to go back down before I try to move it.
