Tuners in Maine?

Hey guys, Just bought my first Subaru WRX a few months ago and I just picked up full exhaust for it. I guess the next step is to tune it, are there any places in Maine that will custom tune it? I'm not sure if F1 does it but I have heard there's another place in the Portland area. BTW I'm in the Bath/Brunswick area. Thanks a lot for any tips/opinions.

first of all WELCOME!

secondly.... have you though of tuning it yourself. with simple addons such as an exhaust you may think of getting an accessport/tachtrix cable and tuning it yourself.

there are TONS of maps available for stage 2 setups (turbo back exhaust) that is easy for you to add yourself.

Well I have thought about tuning myself, but I don't really want to drop the money for an AP and be limited in the future.

I'm also a little scared of doing open source on my own and risk messing something up (Although I would really like to go this route).

Basically I wanted to bring it some where for now to get it tuned for my exact setup (everything in the exhaust is new headers included, and then learn what I can about open source for next time.

Thanks for the help, it seems like a great site with tons of info.

This is a great site for everone young & old that has the Subie bug

Maybe you can make one of our meets.

I would love to make it to some meets, I'd like to check out all the other Subarus.

Lobstah- It is a blue '04, and I drive Rt 1 from Bath to Brunswick everyday around 5:30-6 for work so it could have been me.

Cobb APs are potentially good to +500hp, you likely won't build a 500hp WRX, so imo an AP is a great first choice for an ecu tune. ESP in NH is a kickass shop, google Enhanced Street Performance & check 'em out.

Welcome!

Can the AP be tuned for more then a stage two? I have headers/up-

pipe on now and I just want to drop the cash on the AP then more to get it pro tuned.

Stage 2 for WRX: uppipe, downpipe, hi performance filter

You can easily run an opensource map for like 60 bucks from XPT for the above setup. Adding headers to the mix makes it more of a custom tune, however you can probably run them with the OTS map from XPT.

You want to really follow a plan and not haphazardly install random bolt ons based on a good deal or on a whim, not because it's the only way to do it, but because people have been there before and you can get answers to any hangups you have.
