turbocharge a stock NA 2.2?

Legacy22GT

I have a 1999 Legacy GT that has the 2.2 engine swap.

I also swapped out the computer to fix the idle issues that it had.

It's just not enough power.

I love the fact that it's reliable, but i got smoked by a dodge caliber at a stop light.

talk about embarrassing.

I also did a head gasket job on my ex's 98 gt, and drove that for a while.

had quite a bit of power.

I want to know if i could throw an aftermarket or generic turbo onto the NA 2.2

will I need to swap out anything?

change the computer?

better intake gaskets?

if i'm on the wrong forum, please let me know.

and if anyone has done this, i'd like to know how it went and if it worked well.

Thanks!

would turbocharging a 2.2 make it unreliable?

in short, i wouldn't want to make my vehicle unreliable,

but i do want more power.

Swap a 2.5.

If you have to ask about where to start, it isn't a job for you. No easy bolt on setups.

I've ridden in Chris's 2.2 LGT, it's no rocket ship, but it is a good car and adequate setup.

If you want to drag race sell the car and buy a beat to hell mustang or camaro. NA subarus for straight line racing is stupid.

Does it get you to work/school/ places?

Do you have a ton if money to throw away?

If yes to both, just but a used motorcycle, will go fast and not make your subaru unreliable

". NA subarus for straight line racing is stupid. "

sorry, i wasn't trying to do straight line racing or any other showoff type driving, i just felt that the car feels a little underpowered,

it's a 94 2.2 engine with a 96 intake manifold in a 99 gt..

anyways, thanks for the info.

I would just 2.5 swap it and call it a day. You can do cams and a reflash and get some good gains.
