ugh, I hate when the newsies report about flying

By JASON DEAREN, Associated Press Writer
That's the guy you want to complain to. The Associated Press are seriously a bunch of idiots.

At school I have to use ENPS a program that feeds direct news from the AP wire. You'd think kristof was writing all of the articles. I have to edit so much of the AP articles so I can read them without stumbling all over myself. The weather reports are the worst. AP also hilariously misrepresents a lot of things going on in world affairs...

I can't really watch the news or read the paper without laughing anymore. Took too many journalism courses in college.

fluff. it's all fluff to get the public scared about something and cause drama because drama sells. Having a news broadcast say "we had a great day here in the states. Nothing negative to report and the weather is beautiful and will be all week. go out and enjoy yourselves'' would not sell. they need storms to contrast good weather against and they need negative things to happen. I know I'm not saying anything everyone here hasn't heard before but I had to say it anyway. And if it feels disjointed, it's because I'm watching tv! lol

look the audio tapes clearly state the pitol wasent happy about how close the planes got to each other. the air traffic controller messed up and needs to be looked into. if something actually did happen peopel would be screaming to the high heavens about air controllers and how they need more training and guidlines etc etc

careful what you say about journalists! I'm a magazine publisher and if you MS members keep badmouthing the idiots at ABC and the airhead pundits of TV news in general, I will write terrible misleading articles about each and every one of u just for spite (and/or for sport).

and for entertainment value ;>P

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. What do you do for a living? I've been a professional pilot for more than twenty years.

thanks for sharing your view point on things. im glad you do, that what makes a online forum great is people can share different ideas. especially on a topic like this when no one on the board was actually there so somone cant be 100 percent right
fixed

Rad please tell us what you REALLY think.

the seriousness of this incident depends in large part on what your definition of "normal" is. to a pilot, this might be a fairly routine "moment" in a busy airspace where you're worried for a few seconds, but then the system safeguards (ie radar, proximity alarms, and pilots' situational awareness) kick in. to a news reporter, it's a near disaster and a chance to build ratings.

it's like what happens when you're in a rally. to experienced crews, sliding sideways over a blind crest at 80 mph with trees 3' off the road on either side is "normal". to most people riding along they'd be like "we're gonna DIE!!!"

My $0.02....

Dumb Press.... Exaggerated Situation.... I got a TCAD warning 4 times today.... And two TIS warnings... On one of them the 737 passed right over the top of me... 500 ft.... I commented to ATC to make sure that no one on that airplane flushed a toilet..... Hate cleaning up the blue juice...
