Undercoating Your Car

Hey,

How many of you have your car undercoated/undersprayed? I am not talking the spray can stuff, I am talking about having it done at Krown rustproofing or another place like that. They do the undercarriage as well as in the doors and other problem areas.

-Thanks

while i don't know anyone who's had it done professionally, i put 6 cans of the thick black stuff under my car (floor wheel wells and under side skirts). i really can't see spending much money doing it, but i'm interested to see what everyone else has to say

Hey thanks for the reply. I want to get mine done before the snow flies. It costs like $120 at the Krown place. My father used to have it done every couple of years on his vehicles and they NEVER rusted. At Krown, they even sometimes take the tail lights out and spray in there and spray into the doors....they have a system that shows the specific problem areas on specific vehicles.

-Thanks

this question again...a lot of people ask it.

you can use gun or spray can.. undercoat is not two part catalyst.

the spray can stuff sucks if you use real car paint...that should have a gun and two part mixes for real stuff anyway.. but back to question. I have to do everything to my own jalopy..

evercoat seems to be a can of whoopass..and they have a regular jug you buy for a gun. 45-50psi is about only advantage over can, and the quantity for price lasts much longer as you use it. the cans empty fast. I only learned it doesn't matter. Why one would want sexy looking undercoat from a gun? I do not know. lumpy bumpy drooling and stinking until it is done.

..all versions need a crazy hot day. especially for us northerners... I narrow it down to just a few short weeks able to apply it, or heat wave/fire hazard days.

I spray oil under my car, at all the seams, on suspension stuff, etc.

I'd like to think it helps some... the subframe in my Legacy is still rusted all to hell though.

we have a guy that comes once a year and takes waist oil from us and then paints the bottom of his car with it when its stored for the winter, says nothing rusts when its coverd in oil....

I think my Legacy has had terminal rot since I got it... My GL on the other hand is pretty much rust free (and 7 years older WTF). And that should respond nicely to being oiled.

I have only used the cans of the stuff for the underbody and wheel wells, worked just fine and inexpensive. If you take your time you can do a professional job fairly easily.
