I finally did it. F-it. I have not taken a vacation in 8 years.

Going to Maui on the 24th for a week. O0

Going to visit "crazy Joe" from Eurospeed fame for any of you old school VW guys. Anyone been to Maui? Tips? Plan on much beach, interspersed with exploration and hiking trips. Oh, and I'm bringing my snorkel and fins.

 
Yeah, someone else said that as well. I suspect like you, not much of tanning booth type.... Gives me the willeys. I might try to get some sun here before I leave if winter ever stops... >

dawg, you said it yourself...you have 8 years of sunburn to catch up on. So go for it on Day 1!

find you some Bullfrog Gel spf 30+ sunscreen..goes on smooth, not greasy, you can swim with it and it still protects, and it resists the hotteest tropical hotties, um I mean sun! :-*

or, just drop the top on your miata...you get the gay looks and tan at same time ;D

Law, I've got a membership to Planet Fitness in Westbrook, and it includes free unlimited use of their tanning booths (gay, I know, but I got it in preparation for the honeymoon in the Caribbean).

I'm not currently using the membership, and wouldn't mind loaning you my access card for a while. I'd hate to see you burn to a crisp on day one or two, and know that I could've hooked you up.

Some Maui advice!

DON"T rent a convertable. Your ass will BURN just driving around..I don't care how much sun block you think you have on

Cheeseburger in Paradise ( the BEST burgers )

Mama's fish house (its on the west side of Maui, expensive but SOOO worth it. The menu has the name of the fisherman that caught your fish that morning)

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

Watch the sunset every night.

Take the rental car on the road to Hana... guarantee you need to change your undies by the time you get to the top.

Make sure you go to a luau (roasted pig thingie)... SOOO GOOD!!!

Make sure you wear your shark repellent if you decide to go surfing on the north side.

I'm happy for you man. Have a good time. Remember to relax and maybe do nothing for an afternoon or two. Seizure when you get back!
