valve cover gaskets

I am redoing my valve cover gaskets this weekend. If anyone has any tips as to tools and such advice would be great. I am also going to attempt a write up on this. Saturday is a work on cars day. Drum brakes on Stein's OBS then my car.

Also if your connection was broken for this, Dan or somebody said use brake cleaner, but be prepared to go through a lot of it.

The best tool to have is a 10mm ratcheting box end wrench. It will make your life a lot better getting at those bolts.

You have the easiest (and cheapest) EJ to do valve cover gaskets on...

Cool. I wish it was easier on the phase 2 EJ22s.
It's not really that much harder, just more expensive because it's double the grommets and you need the plug tube seals. And for some reason all that stuff isn't cheap.

The job is done. I just have to upload photos. The gasket set with grommets cost me $35. I went through a can of degreaser to clean the covers and a can of brake cleaner cleaning any little bit of grime that got in the valvetrain.
