Apple is up to it's stupid ass tricks again... it's been a LONG ass time since an apple machine has taken special RAM chips, I mean my current workstation i just threw in some generic G.SKILL RAM and it worked great.

Got a new Mac Pro, bought some PC2 6400 RAM for it (that's what it says it takes) guess what, it doesn't fit, apple moved the pin in the middle over 2mm so regular PC2 6400 RAM doesn't fit, I have to get some special ones that cost twice as much. >

My boss nixed that expense, now I'm going from 6GB (and I wish I had more) to a 2GB machine damnit.

got all my crap moved over to the new box. it's zippier that's for damn sure, bet it'd be better with more ram though

still faster than the old one.... bet I can squeeze some more RAM outta my boss later.

This reminds me of my old Dell with RDRAM. 800MHz and Dell wouldnt offer a BIOS update to open er' up to 1066 MHz. That raisin was expensive too.
