Want to borrow MBC

So Ive begun the work on tuning my car. But, I have run into a snag early in the game. I believe I bought a defective MBC. I was wondering who might have a MBC in the area that would let me try it on my car for 10 mins. I just need to rule out any other mechanical problem, and make sure its just a issue with my MBC. If it is, then the item goes back for a replacement.

Help a brother out. I might even by you lunch!

Thanks

I have one that I've never used. It's sitting at my dad's in Auburn. I should be in town this weekend at some point, I think.

What brand is it?

I have a Forge that isn't working for me. Im trying to land something different.

I dont know if it is the Forge that deffective, or the fact that its lust not wanting to play nice with my EWG.

I spent some time this afternoon with Mike at M&A, and we think its a faulty MBC.

TurboXS I think? I can't remember. It's some brand name tho.

Edit: I lied, that's not right. Hold on.

Hahaha. Gabe is letting me borrow one tomorrow to test out out our theory. But depending on the brand you have.... would you maybe wanna sell it if you're not using it?

Turbonetics, that's it.

Maybe. It was going to go on the 22t swap, but we'll see

Hmmmm, well we will see what Gabe has first. No sense in putting the cart before the horse.

I love this club. I put up a post, and get what I need 3 mins later, on 10:45 on a thursday night.

Sure did! Oh man is it getting good now. My car pulls HARD now that I'm able to boost past spring pressure on my EWG.

Now I can finally start tuning. Now if I can only get rid of this weak plastic sided intercooler and get some injectors......

Yah I'm all set. Thank you very much. I just need to figure out a way to mount this tiny MBC. There is no real mounting hardware/points on the TurboXS. I could always do the redneck solution and zip tie it to something. I guess I'll have to get creative. Any thoughts Gabe? how was it mounted in the WRX that it came out of? Zip ties?

And I think I will be making a call to Subimods for a TMIC, and 850cc injectors.

Hmmm. Well zip ties might be my only choice. I can reuse the mounting bracket somehow from the old unit. Its in a good place, and I already have hoses cut to the right length. I was just hoping for a cleaner, more permanent install though.

Im crafty, and have a machine shop at my disposal to make anything I want. But that unit is soooo small. Im just unsure of what options I have.

Well, I made a visit over to M&A. Mike swears by those TurboXS units, and actually took it out of my hand and went and set it up. He did what you said and loosened the brass nut side till the ball was jiggling around, and then tightened it one turn.

He said if I need to make any big adjustments, the brass side (1 turn=3psi) then the big knob is for fine adjustment. Something like 1 click= 1/4 psi.

But to be honest. He took down the big knob (fine adjustment) down to the bottom. And added one turn to the brass side, and I was basically hitting my target of 17psi on this base map. I didnt need to make any adjustments from there. WIN!!!

Now as my tuning progresses it should be easy to do.

So I guess to answer your question. The extra adjustment didnt really effect the problem so much. Its just a different (better) way to adjust it.

What did help the issue was getting a unit that wasnt deffective.

Yah, its going back to its original owner. Sadly it was brand new, BUT second hand. But we work out that it will be going back to him for a refund. But hes better off Because he can most likely get a full refund from the place he bought it from. I paid him less then full price.
