I have a pre-owned, pre-loaded iPod that I'd like to load on my new computer. I'd like to remove SOME songs, and download more.

Here's my issue which is going to make me sound nuttier than a Snickers bar......

the pre-used iPod USB CORD has music stored IN IT. I'm not even lying. When you hook the cord up to the iPod, the songs that are "in the cord" are NOT in the iPod. I know this for a fact, because the "cord" contains rap, and the iPod contains metal.

I'd like to get the metal songs on the computer, but there is no mention of them in the media play list.

I don't want to delete ALL of the songs on the iPod, which I believe would happen if I was to hit "sync" on the Windows Media Center.

No I do not have iTunes on this computer.

No I do not have any SharePod software (but was hoping to download it off of CNET or buy it from the store).

I remember with an old iPod I had, I used the CD with the drivers and software.

Should I get the drivers/ software for the iPod off of Apple's site (perhaps I am jumping ahead of myself?)

It recognizes the device.

Should I buy a [brand new] cord?

if this is all part of the laptop which is to get photoshop bring it all in and i'll look at it

I am still looking for some answers, so if anyone has any help, that would be superrrr!

you need itunes to sync with an ipod. however to take the music OFF an ipod you do need 3rd party software. it's a pain because of the licensing issues at hand. i have no idea what you mean about the usb cable but i'm sure it's something rather weird

i just did this with mine. if you open the ipod with mycomputer and go in the hidden files, there should be some numbered folders in there that have about 10 songs each, copy and paste somewhere in the computer then import to itunes with the import tool
