Welcome. Nice find. Even though it has 200k miles as long as you take care of it you should get atleast 100k more out of it. The rust spot is normal. All the subarus in that body style get it from what I have seen. If you run into any problems check the topics because chances are someone has run into it before.

Welcome aboard man. Don`t forget to check out our Member Map and enter your location.

okay i added myself on the map. question. i know its pushin 200k miles...is it worth trying to increase its life?...or should i drive it into the ground? i know its going to be expensive and eventually the whole body will rust. i just would like to see my options. thanks

If the only rust is that one spot then take care of it. There are plenty of wrecked cars to pull your parts from. My 95 has 154k and I plan on putting 50k more then rallyx it

Drive it into the ground. Do decent mechanical maintenance and don't let the car get run down. Then it will go a lotta miles for you without asking the world in return. Wen it's done, give the car a kiss, park it and walk away.

as for restoring an older Impreza L, the value of a perfect restored L might be 3 or 4 grand....for which you'd have to spend probly 6 or 8 grand on the resto.....so you do the math.

enjoy your car, those older scoobs are a big reason Subaru is a major success story in the auto biz.

thanks guys. and the p5 im giving to my girl cause she wont let me trade it in for an sti haha so that's why im going to settle for this old one.

Welcome and nice looking car. I hope you get many happy years out of that car. Subaru's are great cars and the community here is great.
