Well before i bought my car it was in a fender bender and bumper was replaced.. when they painted the replacement they didn't use a primer just scuffed if up alittle bit and needless to say its coming off.. So im going to attempt to fix it myself and save a couple bucks.. If it doesn't come out ok I'm not out much. But what color should i use for primer.. And about how much primer, Base Coat, and Clear should I need?

Honestly, after my ordeal with trying to paint my fenders with "Napa" color match paint, I would strongly suggest you cough up 200 and have it done at the shop. you'd be looking at at least 100 for paint and primer, plus i guarantee, you wont like the results

PS: your name sounds familiar..... (i used to fish out of Cundys for a while)

you need plastic primer first, it's a flexible layer that helps reg'lar paint stick to slippy Suby plastique bumpa

if you are patient with prep/paint (like painting a boat) you will be ok (strip, prep prime paint etc), otherwise +1 on advice about farming job out to a body shop

+2 on Cundy's,....what's yer boat name, I was down to the New Meadows recently chasing (nonexistent) stripers in my green Lund Alaskan 20........I know they are down there someplace, it's just where and when to find em hungry that's all! Like outgoing rips by the nun @ Sheep Is Ledge, etc. We got into em big time a couple years ago in the wash around ledges at Flag Island, it was like catching mackerel every cast except they weighd 20 lbs each, yee-haww

I Fish out of Sebasco.. I'm apart of the bucket brigade (guys who haul out of skiffs) My Old Mans boat is the Miss Lexi (lobster boat) And the Cavalier (68ft Green Dragger)

Edit- Yeah i plan on doing it right prep, prime, paint, clear coat.. I went to Rollins in Brunswick and he quoted me at 500. 625 if i got a new bumper.
