What good did you do today?

What have you done today that benefits someone other than yourself?

I put in a bulb for a couple outside an autoparts store today. It was really no big deal, but they were so appreciative.

random thought of the day brought to you by Pedro™

so we're all sitting around the lunch table at work the other night. about 3:30am. and one of the smokers comes in, and says, "there is a girl outside. shes sitting on the front steps crying."

so i go outside, and there is this chick, a beautiful girl, like 10/10. curled up in a ball, on the concrete steps in front of our hanger, in next to nothing, just staring at the ground, tears rolling down her face.

i didnt say anything to her, and walked back inside, and grabbed my spare parka out of my locker, came back outside, and handed it to her.

so i sat down next to her, and asked if she needed the police, or an ambulance. she said she didn't. i asked if she wanted to talk about it. she said no.

well i ended up sitting with this girl, for the better part of an hour an a half. and this is what i got out of her...

she told me her name, and that today was her 21st birthday. she went out with her boyfriend of 5 years, clubbing. they got in a fight on the way home, and he started beating on her, then he stopped on the side of the highway, and pushed her out of the car. she walked (in the 34 degree cold mind you), in nothing but a tiny party dress that stopped about a foot above her knees, and 6 inch heels, up the highway, untill she got to the off-ramp, which she walked down, and to the first lights she saw. our hanger.

turns out shes a nursing student, and he is a pillhead. shes been supporting him for a couple years, and blah blah blah. . .

long story short, i sat with her for a long assed time, talked her friends there on the cell, from 3 towns over (no gps ???), and ended up driving her to them.

they were all really appreciative.

basically the only advice i gave her was, i have 5 sisters, if anyone ever did something like that to one of them, i would cut their fkucing head off. told her she was a smart girl, and to do better for herself.

who knows if she will dump his ass or not. but i think we all know. the heart wants, what the heart wants.

Awesome Phil!!! Bravo! Now we need to find this guy and give him a dumpster party!

TheNailman wins this one!! Great job. I hate ****** bags who treat women like that, I also hate pill heads!!

I have to agree, FTW Nailman +a bagillion hero/karma points for you.

I also have trouble controlling myself when women get treated like this:rant:

Brave Nailman, way to be a gent and help her out.

I have a close friend, and her boyfriend did something like this to her last year. Believe me he heard from me about it ...

Currently I'm volunteering at a middle school. They are doing this thing with lego robots for a competition, so since I deal with computers and electronics, and all through my childhood (and even still... Can you say lego computer case?

) I played with legos, I said I'd help out. Even though I work 2 full time jobs, I like being able to help out a few hours a week.

Stand up thing to do Phil! did you take advantage of the emotional situation and get her phone number?

Sad to think, but shes probably back with that guy now. Young hearts do some weird things.

I donated a dollar at the hardware store. I dont remember what it was for

i didn't, and for two reasons. #1, who wants to be the next guy in a situation like that. #2 who knows how crazy this guy is. people dont like having their bread ticket taken away.

wish i had though. shes kinda haunting me right now.

I carried a big hissing snapper turtle across the road a couple days ago

head and neck as big around as my arm, it wanted to kill me bad for picking it up. but if you grab the shell just right, they can't bite you or gouge you with they claws

my neighbor's kids were screaming bloody murder, they thought it was a dinosaur and should be killeded. but letting turtle go in the river across the street was bettern than it getting squished in the road tho
